Vintage Tea Party : 21 April 2014
It was with some trepidation that we organised this event for an afternoon in April. As usual, at this time of year, the weather forecast was mixed and we were not sure whether to set up inside or out. We knew that our friends in the church would support us whatever the weather but really wanted to make it an enjoyable community experience not just a fundraiser. However we needn't have worried. God really blessed us and Easter Monday brought beautiful weather and all of the tables had to be moved out into the garden as the outside ones filled up. Unknown to me, Jeanne Charly had arranged for a Nottingham Post photographer to cover the event and, somewhat embarrassed, I ended up being photographed with a plant and a teapot! (I forgive you Jeanne )

From the feedback I think we can say the event was a huge success, thanks largely to friends and family who served and washed up, or lent vintage tea set, or provided cakes and plants. And of course to the parish community who turned out in force to support us, and hopefully have an enjoyable afternoon. We managed to raise over £600 on the day with further donations adding another £100. This money will go to the Kenyan Orphanage Project and has helped Grace to reach her fundraising target for the Project. Any further funds she is able to raise will help with her own costs to fly out to Kenya in the summer to help at some of the Project's facilities.

Thanks again to everyone who has supported us in any way.

God bless
