Education Sunday:A warm welcome to Mr. Cuomo this weekend. Mr Cuomo will address us all at 10.00 a.m. Holy Mass on Catholic Education and its influence on the life of the nation. Sacramental Preparation:Baptism. Our next preparation Seminar is in the parish centre on the 11th March from 3.00 - 4.30 p.m. Parents requesting Baptism for children are invited to use the "booking" forms in the Church Narthex for invitation to this seminar of preparation.First Confession: Mrs Williams (at The Good Shepherd School) and Mrs Byrne (at Good Shepherd Centre) work with our children to prepare them for this tremendous Sacrament which will be celebrated on Saturday, 3rd March at 10.00 a.m. Perhaps all the parish would like to share this Sacrament with our "Little people" that day. We hope to have visiting confessors. Confirmation: Candidates are reminded we hope to have the Bishop with us on the 28th June at 7.00 p.m. for this great celebration. The next seminar with Catechists is in the Parish Centre of Sunday 26th February at 3.00 p.m. followed by Holy Mass celebration at 5.30 p.m. Marriage: With continued joy we look forward to a number of marriages in our Parish Church this summer. Preperandi (those preparing for the Sacrament) will soon be invited to meet with members of our Parish Marriage Preparation Team. In the meantime Fr. Philip will meet with them on Monday 13th February OR 20th February at 7.00 p.m.(1 hour) in the parish centre to begin preparing the Rite of Marriage. |

Mass Times:At time of going to press Fr. Varghese prepares to be away. On his return he will be taking two weeks holiday. Please note during this duration, ordinarily we shall celebrate our "standard" weekly Mass schedules. i.e. not enhanced by 6.00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday or Thursday or 8.00 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. on Fridays. All other schedules are unaffected. |
Pilgrimages:Two pilgrimages to Lourdes are advertised. The First is led by Fr. John McCay driving a Silverdale Coach from the 2nd - 9th June and is available at £530 all in. Details are on the poster in the Narthex or direct contact with Fr. McCay jmmccay1982@yahoo.co.uk.The Second is our Diocesan Pilgrimage led by Bishop Malcolm McMahon for five nights from the 16th - 21st July by air with prices beginning at £589 or 7 nights by coach with prices beginning at £429. A pilgrimage to Fatima is available from 7th - 14th July under the leadership of Fr. Gerald Kelly. All in cost is £588 and details are available from Donal Foley (see newsletter). |
Friendship Club:The club invites you to membership and next meets on Thursday, 9th February at 2.00 p.m. in the Rear Suite of the Centre. This week's meeting is an "Antiques/Heirloom" meeting so remember to bring your memorabilia and share your memories with the Club. The secretary advises that "answers to the quiz is available". |
Parish Choir:We record strong interest in this and invite interested people to meet with Catherine Murphy in the parish centre on the 21st February from 7 - 8.30 p.m. Further details from Carmel in the parish Office on Wednesdays (excepting this Wednesday - when the Holy Landy Pilgrimage takes place.) |
Harold Wilson RIP.Harold has been a hard working and devoted member of the parish community for many years. He suffered short illness since the New Year, and died very peacefully surrounded by the love of Pauline, his daughter and parishioners. May he rest in peace. The funeral cortege will be received at the Good Shepherd on Tuesday next at 7.00 p.m. in vigil and will be followed by Requiem Mass and commendation on Wednesday at 10.30 a.m. prior to internment in Redhill Cemetery. Our sincere sympathy is addressed to Pauline and their children. May this Faithful soul rest in peace. |

ReadersDue to both an error in the make-up of the 10.00 a.m. Readers List and also to two other changes we have found it necessary to reorganise the rota for 10 o'clock Sunday Mass. We are either emailing or writing to all those affected but meantime please note the information given each week in the newsletter. A modified list will be displayed in the narthex. World Day of Prayer for the Sick:This is celebrated next Saturday, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. The 10.00 a.m. Mass will focus on this intention with the opportunity of sharing the wonderful Sacrament of Holy Unction of the Sick. Any attending who are of limited mobility need not process forward to the Sanctuary for the Sacrament, but will be attended by the priest in their places. |
