First Confession To The Good Shepherd
Saturday 7th March, 2015 was a bright spring like day, it was a time for celebration at the Good Shepherd Church, Woodthorpe, Nottingham. Preparation for 55 children of the parish came together with nervous excitement; it was their First Confession. Canon Philip, assisted by Fr. Biju, Fr Andrew from Southwell and Canon Michael Brown from West Bridgford welcomed everyone and invited them to a meaningful Celebration of Confession and Re-Conciliation. We offered prayers that the families of the 55 candidates would be more awakened, enlightened and reminded of the meaning and depth of the Grace of the Sacrament of Confession and Re-Conciliation signifies. The children and families were introduced to Jesus in the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist with praises by Deacon John Wakeling and song accompanied by Katia Mersich on piano and Kate Kitching on Saxaphone.

Children were led by their family to receive their First Confession sharing the perfect opportunity, to speak, in complete confidence, and be listened to by none other than Christ Himself, acting through His priest.

The children received a candle to light and placed it on the sanctuary to mark the occasion of truth, mercy and love go together.

A wonderful celebration cake had been prepared ready to share and milkshakes whisked by some rather exuberant young 6th formers from Trinity School to complete the day of a new journey for our candidates and families - next step; First Communion on 16th May 2015.
