Carol Service & Secret Santa

"Amazing", "stupendous", "delicious", "superb". These are but a few of the various epithets that surrounded the sumptuous parish banquet following our Parish Carol Service last Friday and preceding our "Secret Santa" evening. Thank you for all of the extremely kind comments received; a thanks that is passed on immediately to all who prepared our event. Remote preparation began long before with the gathering, wrapping and preparing of Santa's gifts. This was followed by the Parish Choir spending many hours rehearsing to present a spiritually uplifting occasion to support our entry into the Octave of the "Great O" anthems. Then of course there was all the preparing of food, cooking and presenting. The various halls were beautifully decorated to add to the glamour of the evening, which would rival any London Red Carpet event. Stand aside the BAFTA'S! Our sincere thanks to the team who prepared everything; the team in the Kitchen and front of house who served everything; washed up everything and ensured the halls were immediately ready for use the following morning by cleaning down everything. Festive merry making, mingling & jingling (snowballs, crackers and pressie boxes-game on!) took place whilst a feast of pescatarian (fish) and vegetarian flavours from amongst the following was served: Ratatouille topped with Salmon goujons; stuffed cabbage leaves; fishy Yorkshires, Mushroom stroganoff and gnocchi, Jamaican prawn, pepper and coconut stew, Humble Pie and Smoked Haddock Cauli Chowder and three flavour fish pies. You must have been tired surely! Our thanks to Robert O'Farrell, Parish Choral Master and to the Choir for all their preparation and hard work. Finally our thanks to you all; our supporters. The event raised the magnificent total of £1,982.30 on the night with an anonymous donation added bringing the sum to £2000 towards our building fund. Does "thank you" adequately express the gratitude we all feel for such a tremendous occasion?
