Local heroes honoured at Pride of Gedling Awards: "Volunteer Of The Year" was awarded to Sarah Benedek for her work to help setablish a children's play area and nature trail at Gedling Country Park.

Sarah also raised £6 000 for the children's ward at Queen's Medical Centre and £7 000 for the roof of her local Catholic church. "I was brought up as a Catholic", she said. "So when the local Catholic priest said to me, Jesus needs your help! I couldn't say no."

"Congratulations to Sarah, who has only just gone and scooped a Gedling Pride Volunteer Award this evening!

Many of you will recognise Sarah as she organises our annual Church Fayre and volunteers every Monday at Little Lambs, helping out in our kitchen. Sarah also caters for many of our Parish functions, assists with the church flowers and has been hands-on at the weekly Friday Luncheon club too.

Sarah also does so much in our local community, she really is one of our unsung heroes and it's so nice to see her get the recognition she deserves.

Congratulations Sarah from everyone in the Parish, we're all so proud of you!"
