ANNUAL SVP CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Good Shepherd SVP in Arnold Nottingham recently held their annual Christmas Party for beneficiaries and special guests- with 50 guests being treated to a home made Christmas dinner, serenaded with a piano accompaniment, carol singing and even a visit from Santa!

This is the highlight of the year as the people who the SVP members visit throughout the year are invited to the church hall to celebrate altogether. Many of these people rarely leave their houses but the SVP members visit them regularly in their homes and spend time with them, so it's always a treat to arrange for them to come to the Christmas dinner and meet each other. The SVP have a similar event in the Summer with an afternoon tea!

It's a real parish event with the SVP members doing all the preparation, cooking and ferrying round of the guests helped by volunteers. As usual we had a group of sixth formers from Christ the King school who came down and waited on the tables - and what a hard working and kind group of pupils they were! The music was provided by Alison, Rachael, Eva and Sammy who are members of the Church Folk Group.

And Santa even made an early guest appearance to hand out presents and cards to our guests helped by his elf Sam!

Christmas time is an important highlight of the year for the Good Shepherd SVP as they plan to help and support as many families and individuals who are in need as they can over this period. We work with parishioners, our local schools, our local food bank and Nottingham Prison to identify people in need of help and support.
