The Good Shepherd Parish Choir
The current choir was founded in February 2012 and over the last six years has participated in and led musically, many key events in the liturgical life of the Church. The choir is presently directed by Robert O'Farrell who has worked with the choir to expand its repertoire and to provide choral and congregational music appropriate to the different seasons of the Church's year.

Christmas and Easter are the highlights of the Church's year and the choir plays an important role in providing appropriate music. At Christmas the choir leads a carol service, which combines hymns, readings and both traditional and contemporary carols sung by the choir. During Holy Week the choir sings on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and at the Easter Vigil providing appropriate choral music for these the most important days of the Church's year. In everything that we do, it is our intention to enhance the worship and spiritual experience of the parish community as well as lead the congregational singing.

So who and what is the Good Shepherd Choir?

We are a small choir of approximately 15-20 members though there is always room for more! We are a four- part choir consisting of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses and we are always keen to recruit new members to each part. If you don't know your voice part, just come along to practice and Robert will help you to the right section. The choir meets on Tuesday evenings in the Marian Hall from 7pm to 8.30 pm. There is an ongoing commitment to support the 10am Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month and in addition the choir sings on other important days such as Ash Wednesday and Remembrance Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation such as All Saints and Ascension Day.

If you are interested in singing and can hold a tune, please come along and meet us. An ability to read music is useful but not essential.

You can find out more by contacting Robert O'Farrell on 0115 877 129 or 07545 470822, Liz Hammond, Anna Charly 07541 416258.

We look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested.
