Second Collections
The parish holds a number of second collections each year, during or after Mass, for specific purposes to support the Church's missionary and other work locally, nationally and world-wide as required by our Bishop and other church bodies. On top of this, the parish holds monthly collections for our building fund and parish debt (see below).

Building fund/parish debt

Our church is a listed building. As such it requires regular repair and maintenance. We also currently have a significant issue regarding the deteriorating condition of the concrete affecting the mullions and other areas of the church building. This will be very expensive to address. We have established a building fund to help us to cover these costs and also to help service our parish debt if we have to borrow money to meet any particularly large costs. Once a month there is a second collection for the building fund/parish debt held at each week-end Mass.

Regular donations

The weekly offertory envelopes used by many of our parishioners include envelopes for the parish debt and the other second collections we are required to hold. The building fund is also supported by fundraising activities organised from time to time by parishioners, as well as one-off donations.

Parishioners who make their normal offerings by bank standing order, and whose offerings are covered by a Gift Aid declaration, can use a special donations Gift Aid envelope for second collections, marking the envelope "Standing Order". These envelopes are available in the church narthex. Better still, parishioners could make their monthly parish debt offerings by completing a separate bank standing order.

One-off donations

There is a donate portal on the front page of the parish website for one-off donations to the parish. It is also possible to make donations by smartphone technology. The code to scan is shown below. By scanning this code the smartphone will open the parish's dedicated on-line donations page. To scan the code you will need to have installed a reputable QR and Barcode scanner app on your smartphone.

Contactless donations

Donations for second collections can also be made through the digital collection plate, contactless terminal in the church narthex. The terminal accepts donations made through debit or credit cards as well as smart phones.
