NAME OF SERVICE: Children's Liturgy Group

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:

The Good Shepherd Children's Liturgy Group meets during 10.30am Holy Mass every Sunday during school term times. It takes place in the parish centre during the Liturgy of the Word.

There are three different age groups (pre-school, infant and junior), each with the aim of enabling the children to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word in a manner which is appropriate to their level of understanding.

The Liturgists are a very enthusiastic and committed group, aware of the need to ensure a safe environment for our children, and hence are all DBS approved. In addition to our weekly Liturgy groups, we also run a number of special events throughout the year, including:
Unordered list
  • A celebration of mothering Sunday, in honour of Our Lady
  • Children's Stations of the Cross on Good Friday
  • Crowning of Our Lady's Statue in May
  • Children's Christmas Party
  • Children's Liturgy Christmas Eve Nativity.
WHERE/WHEN? The normal Sunday morning meetings of the Children's Liturgy Group are held in the parish centre during 10.30am Holy Mass.

HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

Children can simply attend their age relevant groups at the appropriate time during 10.30am Holy Mass on Sunday. Prior registration is not required. Children in the infant and junior groups attend unaccompanied, but parents will need to attend/stay with their children in the pre-school group.

If you would like to join our team of Liturgists, please contact Lorna Breffit (contact details below).

HOW CAN I GET HELP FROM THE SERVICE?

This group enables our children to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word in a safe environment and in a way which they find interesting and which is appropriate to their age and level of understanding.
