Children Celebrate 60th Anniversary with Art
Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at The Church of The Good Shepherd, Woodthorpe, Nottingham continued throughout May and June, this time with
an Art Competition. Children and young people from St Margaret Clitherow and Good Shepherd Primary Schools, and Christ the King Secondary School were invited to submit
a piece of art work to illustrate 'What the Good Shepherd Church Means To Me'.
We were delighted by the originality and creativity shown by the children. Many had been inspired by the church's stunning stained glass windows with several choosing
mosaic to depict them, while others used water colours to create an image of the church's exterior. Portraits of Fr Philipp Ziomek brought a smile to everybody's faces,
and there was even a 3D model of the church.
Fr Philipp was tasked with judging from each age group and, after much deliberation, winners were awarded art-related prizes, with a bag of sweets for each participant.
The entries have been much admired by parishoners and will remain on display in the Social Centre for the remainder of the year.
